SAVE HOMELESS BEES
County Pest and The Bettered Bee Rehab provide a safe, nurturing environment
Our center provides a stress-free haven where bees can detox from harmful chemicals, re-establish positive behaviors, and regain their motivation to pollinate. Our team—composed of experienced beekeepers, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) specialists, and volunteers—focuses on natural, organic methods to promote healing.
Yes, we actually rescue bees. No, they don’t sit in little chairs (yet).
At County Pest, we relocate honey bee colonies safely and give them a second chance at life at our own apiary — The Bettered Bee Rehab Center at Old Mill. Here's a slightly exaggerated but mostly true look at what happens next:
🐝 Quarantine & Detox
New arrivals are placed in isolated hives on a separate part of the property to ensure they’re healthy, disease-free, and pesticide-free. During this time, they’re monitored and given access to clean water and a balanced diet of natural nectar and pollen sources. No trespassing in peoples homes. No pesticides. No drama.
🧠 Behavioral Therapy
While we can’t exactly send them to counseling, we do keep an eye out for unusual behavior — like aggressive foraging or odd clustering patterns. Sometimes it’s a queen issue, sometimes they just need time to adjust. Either way, we help them transition from survival mode to thriving colony.
👯♀️ Support Groups
Bees are social insects, and no bee thrives alone. Once they’ve settled and passed their “health check,” we slowly reintegrate them with established colonies or let them build a new one. Our apiary provides a safe, managed environment where they can share waggle dances and rebuild a sense of community.
It’s science. It’s care. And it’s our way of giving pollinators a fighting chance.
Because at County Pest — we don’t just remove bees. We give them a new home. 🐝💛
Reintegration
-
Once a bee (or entire colony) completes its rehabilitation, we carefully introduce them into a healthy, structured hive community. This ensures they can continue pollinating and producing honey—but this time, with renewed vigor and focus.

FREE ESTIMATES
We’ll come out and assess your bee situation at no charge. To locate hidden hives, we sometimes use FLIR (thermal) cameras inside your home, giving us a clear picture of the colony’s size and location before we begin.

SWARMS
Don’t be afraid if you see a swarm! These bees are typically “fat and lazy” from stress eating and usually won’t sting. Just give us a call for a quick, easy, and safe removal that protects both you and the bees.

CUT-OUT / REMOVALS
If your hive is tucked behind walls or other hard-to-reach spots, a simple removal won’t cut it. We work with trusted contractors to perform a “cut-out,” removing the bees, comb, and residue—then patching and repairing the area, leaving your home as good as new.
